Easy runs are fun

Taper week started off with a rest day, followed by an easy run of 5mi in 45:00 with 11 strides to get legs going at the end. Schedule called for 5x1k with 400 recovery but seem to need at least 2 easy days after my long runs now-a-days. Must be getting older or something.

Would you believe I found a perfect place to do strides at the top of the Station Hill that I do almost every day from work? It's a flat, well packed road/trail right at the top that I never considered running because it's a dead end. But perfect length (~100m), dead flat and nice cushy surface along a beautiful wooded drive. Almost as nice as the golf course but don't have to dodge the players. I'll be back there on a regular basis now!
